Super Freelancers
I'll be hosting a roundtable talk at indydevs 10/10 about super freelancers - very experienced devs, who can deliver exceptional results and value in their domain.
Sometimes, one expert can achieve more than an entire team.
What do you think? What are the pros and cons of relying on a "super freelancer" rather than the traditional employees? How do you feel about this, as freelancers or managers?

I would think that hiring a super-freelancer can be of great value, but you must make sure that enough knowledge is transferred into the company for future work and maintenance.

I agree with Yoav - it's really important to make sure you have a good mechanism for knowledge transfer:
1. Assign existing developers (can be juniors or seniors) to absorbe the knowledge during the SF (Super Freelancer :-) ) work, or when he/she is done with the work.
I had such a client - a big company I worked for and did iOS, Android, SDK. I have a junior work with me, and part of the time was dedicated to educate him.
2. Second option is to sign on a "support agreement" where the SF commits to allocate time (with a per-hour fee, and a pre-defined response time) to help customer new/existing developers get into the code.

i like the idea of teaming up with fellow freelancers, and creating working-dynamics and methodology of working together on project and thus
1. provide the customer with better value, due to higher-availability;
2. sharing opportunities
3. sharing knowledge
4. making it more funnnnn!

I'm considering that path, never tried to work with freelancers before.

I'm a freelancer (not going to declare myself as super or not :)) so I would love to participate in this discussion to hear what people think
